footGovernance

Just Drop-In is a registered charity and limited company overseen by a board of Directors or Trustees. Just Drop-In was constituted in November 1999 and first opened its doors in 2001. The charity was the Millennium Project of Churches Together now known as Hope in North East Cheshire, a forum of local church leaders who saw a need to support local young people.

Initially opening on Chestergate, we moved to Duke Street in 2011, and have been in our current premises on Brook Street since 2022.

The Service has gradually grown and we now help over 1000 individual children and young people a year.

Our Trustees

As a registered Charity our work is overseen by the standards of the Charity Commission. We are fully compliant with all our reporting responsibilities.

Our work is overseen by a board of Trustees also known as Directors. Trustees give their time freely, but have a range of legal responsibilities. They ensure that they act in the Charities best interest, that they comply with the Charity’s governing document and the law and that they manage the Charity resources

Andrew Bailey, Chair of Trustees:

Born and bred, a local lad who played rugby for Macclesfield and loves cycling up hills, but is happy to talk about any sport! Andrew has lived and worked around the UK and travelled abroad in commercial roles with both Kodak and AstraZeneca. He is married to Catherine and has 2 young adults – nearly an empty nest.

“I am delighted and proud to become Chair of Just Drop-In at such a pivotal time in the 21 years since our foundation. Due to many global and local reasons demand for services has never been so high.

On a brighter note we have never been better placed to help more Young People than ever before.

I can safely say that the other Trustees and I will continue to work hard to build on the success of the efforts of all those who have contributed to JDI’s positive impact over the last 21 years, and aim to continue to be a volunteer led charity focused on improving the lives of local Young People.”

Youth Advisory Board

Running alongside our Trustee Board is the Youth Advisory Board (YAB). The YAB is made up of young people with lived experience of health or social services, who want to help Just Drop-In to thrive and help young people as much as it can. The YAB acts as a shadow board and directly feeds its views and ideas into the Trustee Board ensuring that beneficiaries meaningfully steer the future of the organisation. Members of the YAB get involved in other ways as well and recently helped to short list for the developer for this website and help with the design spec! Other activities have included helping with funding bids, events and recruitment. The YAB have adopted Neurodiversity as their priority area for 2021-22. If you are interested in joining the YAB please get in touch!

I joined the YAB at the end of 2019. Since joining, I've had a lot of involvement with the creation of the new website; I also helped to write a funding bid and spoke about how young people are involved in the decisions that JDI makes, which contributed to JDI being granted the 'Investing in Children' award for another year. As a keen cyclist, I'm super passionate about the benefits of sport and exercise on mental health and as such, I work with JDI to encourage sporting participation. -Louis, YAB Member

We are proud of our Participation and Co-production work and have held the Investing in Children Membership Award for the last three years.
