footParents and carers

Due to our confidentiality policy, we will not discuss your child’s care with you, unless they specifically ask us to or if we have a significant concern around their welfare.

We do however know that being a parent of a child or a young person who is struggling can be a really worrying and difficult time, so we aim to support parents and carers in other ways.

We run a variety of training workshops specifically for parents, which are free and take place throughout the year. Priority is given to the parents or carers of children who are attending Just Drop-In, and are aged 8-25.

Upcoming Course Dates

Mental Health Aware – Saturday 6th February 10am – 1pm

Sleep – Wednesday 24th February & Wednesday 3rd March 5.30pm – 7pm *you must be able to attend both dates*

We are also currently finalising dates for our Triple P and 2 day Mental Health First Aid programmes, so keep your eyes open for further updates.

We offer a two-day course covering all aspects of youth mental health. This course is accredited and certificated for anyone who successfully completes the training.  More information is available from However, booking is strictly via Just Drop-In.

Professional and friendly delivery of the course. Learned so much to take with me as a parent of 2 children. I will disseminate knowledge learned on the course to other parents, invaluable.

Led by a trained sleep practitioner, this workshop aims to support you in understanding why your child may be struggling to sleep, possible causes of sleeping issues and importantly, what you can do to help your child and family to get better sleep.

The workshop is split over 3 sessions:

1: The science of sleep

2: Practical strategies, tips and advice

3: One to one telephone parent session (arranged individually with Sleep Practitioner)

Delivered by one of our Qualified Counsellors, our anxiety workshop aims to increase your awareness, whilst providing practical tips on how to support your child who may be experiencing anxiety. The workshop is split over the following 3 sessions:

1: The science of anxiety

2: Practical tips

3: One to one discussion opportunity, to be arranged individually with the trainer

Triple P

We run Triple P in partnership with the Local Authority throughout the year. It’s run over an 8 week period, and includes 4 x group sessions, 3 x one to one phone calls, followed by a final group session. The Positive Parenting Programme is a parenting and family support system designed to prevent, as well as manage behavioural and emotional problems in children and young people.

Providing parents with the skills and confidence, the programme enables parents to be self-sufficient and manage family issues without ongoing support. There is a real focus on developing positive relationships within the family home helping young people to realise their potential.

Professional and friendly delivery of the course. Learned so much to take with me as a parent of 2 children. I will disseminate knowledge learned on the course to other parents, invaluable.

Mental Health Aware 1/2 Day

This workshop is a one off 3-hour session and covers information on mental health issues, case studies and practical activities to gain confidence and awareness in supporting your child with their mental health. For more information about the course please visit
