Sharon’s Story
At just 17, Sharon was homeless and pregnant. Her life was chaotic and her baby was subject to a Child Protection Plan. But Sharon started to come to the Drop-In everyday. mypad Always open, always warm, always friendly, she built relationships with the volunteers here. In MyPad she learnt to cook home-made chicken nuggets and apple pie.

Slowly Sharon began to take control of her life. She completed a baby
massage course and blossomed into a wonderful young mum.

After two years Sharon was given a glowing report from her social worker and Just Drop-In and her little girl came off the Child Protection Plan. They moved into their own house and Sharon started a child development course to keep building her parenting skills.

It’s been a long journey but Sharon has found her feet and begun to realise her potential.

Chloe’s Story
Chloe first came to Just Drop-In at 17, having left her mum’s house because of the constant arguing. She was staying on a friend’s floor. “I was very vulnerable and really struggling. The Drop-In helped me with referrals to sort out housing and gave me help and support”

There were ups and downs but Just Drop-In was always there. Chloe is now managing to live independently in a shared house. “I still come to the centre now for help and support. All the volunteers and staff are friendly and welcoming.” Chloe now regularly cooks meals in My Pad – improving her skills for independent living.
