    Some examples of help given..............
During 2002, our first year, we have had over 2000 visitors.
In 2003 there were 4878 visitors, and
in 2004 it rose to 5804 (3208 male; 2596 female).
Some examples of advice and help given are shown below.
(Names have been changed to respect confidentiality).

    By a 15 year-old JDI regular

The drop in centre is on Great King Street - it has a cyber cafe with five computers a lounge for chilling in with drinks and having a great time.
Some people come here just to come on the computers even though some sites are barred.
It is open for several hours and it's great to have a chat when something is on your mind.

    What about the staff?
The staff are a laugh and you can trust them to keep a secret (not if you have murdered someone!).
They can help you if you are stuck on something and you really need help.
They can support you if you are bullied at school or at home.

What about the other people who come in here?
You'll see loads of people here and have a laugh with, and will make lots of friends.
And best of all there is no bullying what so ever.

    So come to Just Drop-In.

David came in to do his CV. With support he wrote off for many jobs, got an interview and a job with a major company.
Simon came into JDI distressed and homeless. We listened to him, gave him support and put him in touch with a hostel where he now lives and is looking forward to the future.
Rebecca came to JDI and talked about problems she was having at home. She wasn't getting on well with her parents. After talking about how she felt she found it easier to call her Mum and start to improve the relationship with them.
Diane entered JDI requesting the use of the internet. After a while she asked if she could talk to someone in the confidential room. She became very upset and explained that she was being bullied at school. We empathised with her, encouraged her to tell someone she could trust and provided information that could help her further.
Martin came in desperate to sort out his life and generally fed up with everything. He had been on heroin for some time and wanted to come off it. We listened to him, gave him some drugs information and encouraged him to go to the Barnabas Drug Centre for further help.
