Just Drop-In is run by a small team of paid staff and over 60 volunteers.

Ann (2)Ann Wright, Team Manager

I joined Just Drop-In in January 2014 and have had the pleasure of leading and developing all of the day to day activity at Just Drop-In. I work alongside a positive and skilled staff and volunteer team who inspire and motivate me every day. We continuously strive to improve the quality and reach of our services to do all that we can to help young people find their feet. I am educated to post graduate level and have over 20 years experience working in the statutory sector with young people. I truly enjoy my role at Just Drop-In and look forward to seeing what each day brings!

My role allows me to lead a fantastic team of volunteers to provide an easy access drop in service for young people in Macclesfield. I recently led the organisation to achieve the Investing in Volunteers quality mark, recognising the work we do with volunteers as well as young people. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Youth & Community Work along with 6 years experience in working with children & young people – there are still plenty of opportunities to learn something new!

Lisa staff thumbLisa Goodchild, Counselling Co-ordinator

I’ve been here since 2004 organising and overseeing the counselling service. Children and young people are great to work with – there’s an energy, immediacy and they often come up with creative ways to help themselves.
People can often get ‘stuck’ in some way and have difficulty saying or feeling the way they do. We don’t advise young people – they usually have the key to unlock their own problems, counselling just helps them find it.

Georgia Folksman, Business Support Officer

I joined the team in June 2017, before this role I achieved a Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design and I then went on to work for Cheshire Police where I attained a Level 2 within Business Administration. My role is very varied and I mainly respond to enquiries and support the team with anything that leads to the smooth running of the organisation. I am very excited to gain more experience and opportunities within this rewarding business.

I’m working within Cheshire East’s Emotionally Healthy Schools project where I’ll be working with local schools. I am passionate about encouraging emotional well being and resilience skills with young people. I have worked within health services for 12 years and gained a HND in Youth and Community Work and in Human Nutrition.

Jennie Lawton, Foundations Project Worker

My role is to plan, organise and deliver activities to support and empower young people within the Foundations Service. I have 11 years’ experience of working with learning disabilities, ASD and complexed disabilities. I have achieved both a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a NVQ Level 3 Heath and Social Care (Children and Young Adults).

I have also carried out counselling within infant, primary and secondary schools and Children’s group therapy work within primary schools across Staffordshire. I’m passionate about supporting children and young people to build resilience and reach their full potential.

Helen Mackay, Foundations Counsellor

I am lucky to have 2 roles – first working with Jennie on Foundations, a Helen Foundationsgreat place for young people to make new friends, develop skills and have fun! My second is as a 1-1 counsellor, which allows me to offer individuals the opportunity to talk in a safe, supportive and private space. I hold a professional Diploma in Integrative counselling and a Bsc (Hons) in Psychology. I have many years experience as a youth worker within the community using drama & creative arts.

Julie Ollerhead,  Counsellor

I started volunteering with Just Drop-In in September 2015, joining the staff team in December 2017 as a counsellor within the Thrive Project.  I have worked with children and young people for over 6 years with a person centred approach and hold a MSc in Counselling Psychology.

Julie OI feel privileged being part of the team, offering our young people a non-judgmental, safe and confidential place to share ‘how it is for them’ and support them to overcome whatever difficulties they may have.  Our young people are treated as individuals, moving at their own pace with their choice of therapeutic interventions such as talking, play, journaling and artwork.  It really is humbling to help make a positive difference to the life of a young person.
